Video Monday: Rory Singing

Since the beginning of November, Rory has really started talking. It’s like a switch just flipped inside of him, and he decided to let it flow. I knew it would happen; it just took a little while for him to get there.

I can’t always understand what he’s saying, but I’ve gotten pretty good at deciphering his speech. He luckily does not mix up his pronouns like Riley used to, and that makes things easier. A lot of what I hear is “I want that.”

He says “Mama” a lot and calls Kenny “Daya.” He calls himself “Ro-Ro” and I think he calls Riley “Ya-Ya.” He has changed “Doo-da” to “No-na” for Nola, he calls Nopsi “Ossy,” and he calls QP and AD#1 by name. He asks for “mulk” all the time. He still loves his “straw-wa-was.” And he tells me “I luh loo!” every time I say “I love you” to him.

He knows his colors and pronounces them decently, although red comes out “yed,” blue comes out “boo,” and green comes out “geen.” But he’s got yellow and purple down!

He calls trains “choo-choos” and points out just about every big truck he sees on the road, especially school buses and garbage trucks. He asks to watch “Miles” and “Yah Yaws” (Lego Star Wars) all the time. He loves his “Tiga” (Tiger), as well as his “dih-dih tiga” (Little Tiger) and “banket.” He is a bit obsessed with Christmas trees right now and exclaims out loud whenever he sees one.

He says “no” and “yah” a lot, and he is also starting the “why” phase with a vengeance. Lord knows his little voice is so stinking cute, but help me.

He also loves to sing. I still sing “Twinkle, Twinkle” and “My Favorite Things” to him every night when I put him to bed. He recently started joining in and singing with me. It’s so cute. The words are mostly nonsense, but he is totally on time and on the beat. So impressed! (I really, really want to get him on video doing this, but I’m not sure he’ll do it the same if he knows I’m recording him.)

Here’s a video of him singing the hot dog dance song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, as well as bit of Star Wars at the end. Enjoy!

Happy Monday!

Oh, and I'm afraid I have some bad news. Remember that problem I had with my blogging program at the beginning of the summer? Well, the same thing is happening again, so I will be offline until the issue is fixed. It is being actively addressed, but fingers crossed it doesn't take too long!

He also says "pease" (please), "sah-wee" (sorry), "cues me" (excuse me), and he knows Roux's and Elsa's names.

And "otay" for okay and "tah-too" for thank you and "siss-suss shee" for Christmas tree.
