Annual Crawfish Boil 2017

Last Saturday was our big annual crawfish boil. We have been doing this for 9 straight years, and it’s always so much fun. Plus, it brings so many people together who wouldn’t normally see each other. Old friends somehow always manage to show up year after year, and this boil is the only time we see some of them.

As has been typical in many past years, we were worried about the weather leading up to boil day. However, as always seems to happen, the rain didn’t affect us at all. It ended up being a really nice day. The boys had so much fun, even before anyone got here.

People started arriving just after 11 and Kenny had the first batch out on the tables about an hour and a half later. He boiled a total of 191 pounds in five and a half batches. He also got some help in running his cleaning station; the kids loved it, and he was more than happy to let them do it!

We had about 60 people show up. Scott and Jacque even came with Colin, who turned 9 weeks on boil day. He took a little nap in my arms while Jacque opened the gift we got him. So sweet!

Many thanks to all of those who were able to make it. We really do look forward to hosting this event every year and hope to continue it for many more years to come!

Spring Break 2017

Once the boys had had enough treats at the PK3 Easter party, we headed home to change clothes and have a quick snack. Then we set out again for a fun jumping session at Sky Zone. I figured we should start their Spring Break off with a bang!

Thursday morning we met Dana, Diana, Heidi, and their kids at Chick-Fil-A for a pajama breakfast. They were having such a good time that we decided to switch locations and continue the fun, so we went to the Bonnabel boat launch playground. Then, since the boys got so filthy at the playground, I let them play in the hose back at home and have a picnic lunch on the driveway. What a great day!

On Monday, the day after Easter, Dana and I made plans to play at our house. However, I discovered Riley unexpectedly napping about an hour before they showed up, which shocked the heck out of me. But he was up and ready to go by the time they arrived, and the four friends had a great time playing together that afternoon.

On Tuesday we met Amy, Murphy, and Molly at the aquarium and spent the morning with the fish. Murphy didn’t quite know what to think of my two; it was too cute watching them together.

We went to visit Kenny at work on Wednesday. The boys got to ride on the office forklift and also climbed inside the {empty} engine compartment of one of Kenny’s Jeeps. And we somehow ended up bringing home three empty boxes and scrap pieces of chain link fence that Riley found in the warehouse. He’s always looking for new things to add to his trap.

We spent most of Thursday at Nola and Nopsi’s house swimming in their pool. Well, the kids swam in the pool while Dana and I watched them. The water is still really freaking cold! They loved it though and had a great time.

The next day, Friday, was a busy one. We geared up for our big annual crawfish boil that took place last Saturday. That recap coming up tomorrow!
