Ten Things

1. Nola took Luke to visit the Brownies at the beginning of this month. So cute!

2. Rory with his favorite (Play Doh), the boys doing the “push game” at bedtime with Kenny, and testing out new voice changer toys from AD#1.

3. Kenny and I got tickets to the Saints game against the Bucs on November 5 from our friend Scott. We met up with the crew at VooDoo II beforehand and then walked to the Dome. It was a great game! Afterwards, we went to have a drink at the Nopsi Hotel to wait out traffic before heading to Nola and Nopsi’s for dinner. Such a great day.

4. All Catholic schools were off on November 6 for teacher professional development, so some of us decided to let the kids run off some energy at Sector 6 that morning.

5. Our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch looked great on our porch this year!

6. I had a fun birthday: Rory and I released a butterfly that morning, my boys gave me a nice card and drawings, Nola opened a wine we discovered in Paris in 2012, Kenny gave me replacement sunglasses (I lost my favorite pair back in July at Velvet Cactus), and Nola made me an awesome birthday dessert (dark chocolate salted caramel Oreo pie).

7. Fun nights out back to back! Bad Moms Christmas at Canal Place with Dana, Diana, Heidi, and Terah and then The Odd Couple at Rivertown with Karen.

8. Weekend outside fun, complete with Thanksgiving-themed chalk drawings.

10. I stopped by to say hi to Grams and Bop one day last week. I told them we missed them!

2017 SCR Oyster Festival, Part Two

Once Rory shook off his breakdown on the stage and watched his brother do his dance, he was ready to ride some rides. Kate and Luke rode a few things too. It was a beautiful day!

Our family eventually left just after 3pm, and we made the boys take a break when they did. We got them snoballs and sat down near the stage to rest and listen to the music for a bit.

Then they were right back at it, running from ride to ride and having a great time. We let the boys each take a chance on the balloon pop game (a.k.a. they both wasted $10 to get dinky little stuffed animals that they could have caught for free at Mardi Gras), and we even ran into Rory’s and Colin’s big buddy, Anthony.

We took a family spin on the ferris wheel at sundown, let the boys have a few last rides, and burned through two cans of silly string before we decided to call it a day. As per tradition, we went to Mooyah for dinner (where Riley wrote his name in script on the chalkboard wall!) before finally going back home and crashing.

Dana, Heidi, and I worked a second shift on Sunday morning (my birthday!), at the drinks booth. The guys brought the kids out later to enjoy the last day of the fair, and everyone came together once our shift was over.

This was also the day that Riley rode the Rock It. FOUR times. Ansleigh and Myril’s dad Jake agreed to take him and see if he was tall enough. Well, he was, and he went again with Terah, then with me, then with his classmate Laurel. He was SO excited. Claire was bummed that she was too short to ride it, but she did get on the Fireball for the first time. Dana went with her. They both screamed the whole time and said never again when they got off. Too funny.

A few last rides for the boys and one more family turn on the ferris wheel (Rory’s favorite) before we declared our time at the fair done. It was, as always, highly entertaining, incredibly exhausting, and super chaotic. Fair weekend = fun weekend!
