The first weekend in April was a busy one for us. The Brownies turned ONE on March 28, and their first birthday party was on April 1 at their house. Lizzie went with a love and hearts theme, which was really cute. And the girls looked adorable in glittery heart onesies and tutus.
The boys spent much of the party playing in the backyard with silly string, balloons, and chalk. Rory got upset at one point and just stood there with his hands on his hips, not speaking (which is happening more and more these days…..super awesome). He eventually snapped out of it and we had a great time.
When the time came for cake, Emma dug right in, but Hazel was in a bit of a mood, so Lizzie had to hold her. But they both seemed to enjoy their special first birthday smash cakes and made quite a mess.
After the party, we drove to the Alario Center on the Westbank to attend the T-Rex Planet dinosaur exhibition. Grandma came with us. It wasn’t as good as the one we went to a few years ago, but the boys enjoyed spending a couple of hours there.
Rory fell asleep in the car on the way home and stayed that way when I carried him inside and lay down on the couch with him. And he stayed that way when I had to get up and transfer him to another couch. It had been an awfully long day.
After my impromptu snooze with my littlest, I headed over to Jeff and Erin’s house. I had agreed to watch Kate and Luke while they went out to dinner with friends that night. I was exhausted, but my niece and nephew were perfect angels and I really didn’t have to do much. Kate and I took some silly selfies before she went to bed and sent them to Kenny, who sent one back of him and the boys.
It was actually quite nice spending time with the two of them on my own. I’m so often around them with lots of people so it was great to have them all to myself.
The next day Grandma and Grandpa came over to our house for a small crawfish boil. Kenny tried out a new seasoning mix that he got from the seafood market where we bought the crawfish, and we unanimously agreed that they were perfectly fine but that his original recipe was much better.
Whew; what a weekend. Our big annual boil is coming up next Saturday…..fingers crossed, please, for good weather!
Have a wonderful {EASTER} weekend, everyone!

I don't know where you get the energy to be such fun parents on the weekends, but your boys are the better for it. Good for you!
