The boys woke up around 7:30am on Christmas morning. Riley ran downstairs, peeked at what was under the tree (even though I had told him not to), and burst into our room. Once Rory was up, we covered their eyes and carried them to the top of the stairs so I could get my annual picture. Then we let them loose!
Riley was excited about his Millenium Falcon Lego set, and Rory was in awe of his big Hot Wheels garage. They checked everything out and played for a good bit before we reminded them about their stockings.
Stocking time!
Once we pried Riley away from his new Legos…..
…..we headed over to Nola and Nopsi’s for breakfast and presents. The kids were so excited to dive into all of the gifts under Nola’s tree. And it was Luke’s first Christmas!
SO. MANY. PRESENTS.
Our next stop was Grandma’s house for Christmas lunch and more presents. Aunt Jaimi and Uncle Steve made chicken and sausage gumbo, which we served with potato salad that Kenny made. That’s really common in southern LA, and it’s actually really good.
When things wound down at Grandma’s, we packed up and stopped by Dana’s house on our way home. Nopsi gave her one of the Christmas signs he made, and I delivered it Christmas night. The kids loved playing together; in fact, Claire later told Dana that Riley coming to her house was the best Christmas surprise ever. These two.
It was a great Christmas. I can’t believe it’s all over.
