Two Festive Christmas Meals and Celebrating with Nopsi’s Family

Like many other families at this time of year, we have been NONSTOP during this crazy month of December. Here are some of the things we’ve been doing.

My girls and I went to dinner at SoBou last Thursday night. We booked their Holiday Pincho Party, which includes several appetizers, two drinks, and a dessert platter. It was so much fun. We’re going to try to do something like this every year. I hope it actually happens!

The next day was the annual Christmas lunch at the Rib Room in the Omni Royal Orleans. Nola’s friend Perry has organized it for years; in fact, I took Riley when he was really little.

I hadn’t been since then, and AD#1 graciously offered to stay home with the boys so I could go. Aunt Lizzie was there too!

The restaurant is very festive, all decked out in its Christmas finest. The eleven of us had a great time!

Saturday was Christmas with Nopsi’s family across the lake at Uncle Dana and Aunt Roma’s house. And we had a new addition this year: baby Adyn! He was passed around most of the day, and Riley, Kate, and Rory had a great time playing together.

And they were pretty patient in waiting to open their gifts. It’s so much fun to have little kids around for Christmas; their excitement is palpable. But it finally came time for presents, and they all loved what they got.

Rory loves his new Mickey fire truck, and Riley’s new remote control dinosaur is so cool. They were well entertained the rest of the time we were there.

Kenny ended up taking the boys home before dinner was ready, but I stayed and caught a ride back with Nola and Nopsi. I’m so glad I did because dinner was delicious. If you’ve never had a pineapple and cheese casserole before, do yourself a favor: google a recipe and try it. It sounds completely bizarre, but it is SO good.

As always, it was such fun to spend time with Nopsi’s side of the family. Riley sure got into the spirit of things. Wonk potatoes.

Thanks so much for hosting, Aunt Roma and Uncle Dana!
