The day after Christmas was spent entirely at home, playing with new toys, putting other gifts away, and cleaning up the mess we made the day before. Luckily, the weather was nice, so we spent a decent amount of time outside.

This, at first, was much to Riley’s dismay, who solely wanted to build with his new Legos. However, once Kenny and I informed him that rain would keep us inside much of the next two days and therefore he would have lots of building time, he agreed to be outside.

Especially once we also told him we would set up the new bouncy house in the backyard. That got him really excited.

Rory was also excited to bounce, thankfully doing a complete 180 from the previous day. I think the fact that he was better rested and that the blower’s sound was more dispersed helped a lot. That thing was loud inside the house.

They bounced and played outside for a solid two hours that morning. They didn’t want to come inside for lunch, but they certainly worked up an appetite. And both of them took great naps to boot. I’m so glad the bounce house purchase seems to be worth it.

The rest of our post-Christmas weekend was very laidback and low-key, just the way I like it. One highlight for Kenny and me was Saturday night, when AD#1 and Aunt Elena came over to stay with the boys while we went out (THANK YOU!!!). We ran a couple of errands first and ended up trying out World of Beer for dinner and drinks. The beer was cold, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere (and the company) was great.

Then on Monday morning the boys and I met up with Dana, Claire, and Colin at the new Sector 6 Extreme Air Sports facility. It’s a huge indoor trampoline park, and it was SO. MUCH. FUN.

They offer a KidJump session every morning, when the maximum age is limited to 6 years and one adult gets to jump for free with their kids. Perfect for our group.

All four of the kids (plus the two adults) had a blast. There are multiple different areas, and we hit them all. Again, so much fun.

We also tried the trapeze. Riley tried and bit it. Claire tried, got a bit further, and bit it. Then Dana and I both tried, didn’t get nearly as far as we thought we would, and bit it. It’s harder than it looks!

Our hour of jump time was up before we knew it. Rory and Colin were approaching their limits, but the big kids would have stayed longer. However, it was a good thing we left when we did: a great wave of even bigger kids started flowing in right behind us. It’s already a hugely popular place, and it’s only been open a month.

I’m so glad Dana and I made this work. All six of us enjoyed ourselves immensely, and Riley is already talking about having his next birthday party at Sector 6.
I sincerely hope that holds for another 8 months. The last place he mentioned wanting for his party was Chuck E. Cheese, and I really don’t want to have it there.
That place gives me a headache.
