Eight Months {Rory}

Rory is eight months old today.

He weighs 23.8 pounds and measures 28.5 inches long. He is in a size 3 diaper (but about to move up to a 4) and is wearing anywhere from 9 month to 12-18 month clothing.

Here’s what I want to remember about this past month:

• He did not take his bottles all that great this month, but he’s not hurting for sustenance. (Have you seen his thighs?) He continues to eat his stage 2 foods well, still seeming to prefer the meat/veggie options.
• I recently started handing him his spoon after he finishes a meal and if I am not quick enough, he whines for it. He loves to chew on it.
• We’re supposed to be working on finger foods with him, but I confess I have not offered them to him all that often.
• He is still taking two naps a day and sleeping through the night with minimal awakenings. We’ve added three extra pacis to his crib, and he can usually find one to help settle himself in the middle of the night.
• He is so curious about everything going on around him. He’ll twist his body around to see what’s on tv when I’m trying to give him a bottle. Too funny.
• He studies things intently, and he likes materials that crackle (granola bar wrappers, empty water bottles, etc.).
• He is officially sitting up.
• He is rocking out on all fours, and he is scooting, but only backwards. I think one of these days it’s just going to click and he’s going to take off crawling.
• He is most definitely teething but no sign of his pearly whites just yet.
• He is very vocal and can make a myriad of sounds. Riley is ready for him to be able to talk.
• He had a raised, bumpy rash on his booty, legs, and arms develop this month. Not sure what it is, but it doesn’t seem to bother him.
• He gets really upset when I put him in his carseat or his highchair but calms down fairly quickly. He’s just about to outgrow his infant seat, so we are on the look-out for a booster seat for Riley so Rory can move to the seat Riley is currently in.
• He opens and closes his hands a lot, and sometimes he stares down at them while doing so, gazing in wonderment.
• He is loving peek-a-boo right now.
• He continues to be such a happy, smiley boy, and we love him so, so much.

Eight months old!

Stop being so darn cute, little one.

You’re making all of the other babies work way too hard to catch up to you.
