Kenny and I try to make it up to Baton Rouge to tailgate for one LSU football game per season, and we took Riley up there last weekend for the Bama game. Steve’s parents brought their RV up, too, so a bunch of our friends (even Karen, a MS State grad) and their kids gathered in the camper lot across from the vet school.
It was a nice day, but it was way too hot for my comfort. The kids, however, couldn’t care less, although Riley did put away twice as much juice/water as he usually does. Thank goodness we remembered to bring Riley’s dump truck: the lot where we were is filled with rocks and dirt. Like last year, they all had a blast playing in the rocks, and Riley wasted no time in getting covered in dirt and dust. Like I said, all boy.
One of Steve’s sister’s friends had an awesome shirt on, and I had to snap a picture of him. Loved it.
After the kids had played for awhile and everyone had eaten lunch, we loaded up into three wagons and headed over to see Mike the Tiger. I loved our little caravan. I’m so glad all of the kids get along so well with each other. Most of the time.
Sadly, we were not rewarded after our long, hot trip to Mike’s cage with much of a sighting of the big cat. He wasn’t anywhere to be found in his habitat; the staff already had his trailer hooked up and ready to be loaded for pre-game. Some of the adults got a split-second glimpse of him as he walked into the trailer, but the kids weren’t as lucky. Bummer.
What was even more of a bummer was the outcome of the game. LSU played so well, but Alabama scored a late fourth quarter touchdown that put them ahead for good. Drat!
However, a fun day was had by all. Thanks to Mr. Eddie and Mrs. Mary for letting us invade your camper; we always have a good time tailgating with y’all!
