Ashley and Greg’s son Grant turns 3 in July, and his birthday party was this past weekend at their house. Grant loves garbage trucks, and Ashley did such a cute job with that theme, sending out garbage truck invitations, putting unique toppers in the cupcakes, ordering cute cookie favors, and even getting the birthday boy a special personalized garbage truck shirt.
The party started at 4pm on Saturday afternoon, and I was a little worried about the timing for Riley. I figured we would arrive at 4, feed him his dinner there around 5:30, and then head home when he was finished so he could get his bath and into bed at his normal time.
We didn’t leave until after 6.
I thought Riley would be out before we even got on the interstate, but he wasn’t. He was in the best mood the whole drive home, wildly kicking his legs, playing with his sippy cup, and smiling and laughing. He got a bath and was in bed around 7 with no problems.
Looks like we can relax the routine a bit (gasp!) and keep him up a little later in the evenings if we want to!
I also captured a cute interaction between Grant and Riley at the party. Riley was banging on the glass coffee table at one point, which Grant knows is a no-no.
And he wasn’t shy about telling Riley about the rule in HIS house.
Do you want an M&M, Ms. Courtney? I know they’re your favorite!
Uh-oh….he’s not supposed to do that.
Please make him stop. Mommy tells me I can’t do that, so he can’t either.
Here, I’ll help.
Sorry, dude, but that’s the rule in MY house!
We also discovered that Riley isn’t quite ready for the whole spacewalk craze just yet. He had a death grip on me the entire time we were in there, which wasn’t very long. Maybe next year, buddy!
Note to self: do not wear a dress to a party when you know you’ll be chasing your son around and also climbing into and out of a spacewalk. Not a good idea.
Last but not least: I love a guy chilling outside among friends holding his son, but three guys doing so at the same time is even better.
Thanks for hosting a great party, Ashley and Greg; we had so much fun!
