We celebrated Father’s Day this year at my parents’ house with both sides of the family. This was the first time my dad’s dad was in town for the occasion in many, many years, and it was great to spend the time with him. He had never met Riley before, so it was fun to introduce him to his great-grandson.
(Some of the crazy women of the family were on the other side of the kitchen when the above picture was taken, trying to get Riley to smile. It’s a wonder he didn’t because they certainly tried their best!)
I think all of the dads had a great afternoon, and it was wonderful to have everyone together, both Mom’s family and Dad’s family. Even though everyone knows each other since my parents have been together forever, we don’t do that often enough!
Kenny said he had a great day, even though he had no requests like I did for Mother’s Day. He did go out and work on his car for a little while, but he also spent time with Riley. Instead of wanting a break as I requested last month, he enjoyed spending quality time with his boy on his day. After all, he has to go off every weekday and earn the money, so he doesn’t get to see Riley nearly as much as I do. He sure does cherish his weekend time at home!
Once again, Happy Father’s Day, Ken. We love you!
