Every fall Cub Scout Pack 491 holds a raingutter regatta in the SCR gym. This year’s took place on the morning of November 17. It was obviously the boys’ first time participating; Kenny was so excited. They started working on their boats over in Nopsi’s garage a couple of weeks before the regatta. They even got to use the big sander! Mama was nervous, but Daddy had safety gear in place, and everything turned out just fine.
They also trimmed down some of the plastic, painted their boats, constructed their sails, and applied decorative elements. Rory made his look like the one on the box, and Riley made his into a saber-toothed tiger. Then the morning of the race finally arrived, and they were ready to put their boats to the test!
I unfortunately was sick and missed out on going, but Kenny took lots of pictures and said the boys did great.
Each den competed against themselves, and then the winners went on to compete against the winners from other dens. Riley won one of his races, and Rory came in second place for the Lions! Then they just played around and raced whoever they wanted. It was too tempting not to!
At the pack meeting on November 30, Rory got his medal for finishing second. He was SO excited.
Both boys also got a couple of belt loops that they earned with their respective dens.
So proud of my two Scouts!
