This month, not surprisingly, has been supremely busy. We have been doing all of the Christmas things and having lots of fun. The first event was our annual gingerbread house decorating at Karen’s on December 2. A great time as always!
The next Saturday, December 8, was jam packed. It followed much of the same pattern as last year, when we had three separate events on the same day. We started out at Breakfast with Santa at SCR, which was the same chaotic yet enjoyable morning at the boys’ school. The only issue was taking a picture with Santa, which is one of Grandma’s only requests this time of year. Long story short, and after many tears and much stubbornness, both boys relented. But I wonder if this is our last breakfast with Santa. We shall see.
We left school and headed to the Quarter to once again decorate a gingerbread house, this time at Redfish Grill. This was our third year doing this event, and it’s always a good time. And we had a much bigger group than in the past: our whole crew was able to go this year!
Once we were done at Redfish, everyone decided to join us in our next tradition: walking through the Roosevelt. Terah had actually never been, so it was fun to show her how pretty it looks at this time of year. And while it was of course crowded, we managed to get pictures of each family and one big group shot!
Then, since we were so close, we walked back across Canal Street to the Ritz to check out their decorations. The gingerbread streetcar was especially impressive, and the kids had fun running off some energy in the courtyard while the adults relaxed with drinks.
We finally left the Quarter around 4pm. However, we only had about an hour at home before we had to leave again. That night was our friend Tony’s annual birthday dinner that he hosts at his house in St. Rose. A hearty and delicious authentic Italian meal with good friends was just what we needed to end a really epic day.
Happy Holidays, y’all!
