After a very wet Friday, the sunshine on fair Saturday was more than welcome. Once the boys were done with their fair dance responsibilities, they wasted practically no time throwing themselves into the rest of what the fair had to offer. Silly string, rides, cotton candy, games, friends. FUN. Oh, and I found out at some point Saturday afternoon that our booth won the contest for the lower grades…..woo-hoo!!!
Riley even convinced Kenny to go on the Rock It with him. He must have ridden that thing more than a dozen times that weekend. He loves it so much. In fact, he has asked to have it at his next birthday party. Keep on dreaming, son.
The sun went down, but the boys weren’t quite done. There was time left for a few last rides (and silly stringing Daddy and Rory taking a short nap on Mama) before we called it a day. And our booth still looked great with the dark sky behind it. Winning.
Kenny and the boys took it easy the next morning and came out in the afternoon, but I worked the first shift with Dana, Terah, and Lauren. It was another nice day, not nearly as cold, and the Saints game was on. Plus Terah had bloody Marys in her backpack, so there was that too.
Kenny and the boys got out there around 2. Rory immediately jumped on a ride, and Riley ran off with friends.
A good part of the afternoon was spent away from the rides, though. Rory did paintball and listened to the Brother Martin drumline perform with Kenny and me. Then both boys played ping pong fish and, lo and behold, each of them won a fish. We are now officially pet owners. Meet Corey and Snowy.
Then there was more silly string, time with friends, and cherry bells for Riley.
As the sun started to set, there was time for a few last rides and a late hot dog snack before the four of us got onto the Ferris wheel for our traditional final ride together as a family.
And with that, our 2018 Oyster Festival came to a close. We survived the rain and still had a great weekend. Until next year!
