Kate’s Baptism

Last Sunday afternoon, Kate was baptized in a private ceremony at the church where Aunt E works. There were lots of family members and friends in attendance, and it was such a lovely way to mark an important milestone in Kate’s life.

Kate wore an 83-year-old christening gown that Erin’s grandfather was actually baptized in. It’s been passed down through the generations in Erin’s family, and it was Kate’s turn to wear it this past Sunday. So very special.

Riley looked like such a big boy in a button-down long-sleeved shirt (“handsome like Daddy”) and corduroy pants. He had a blast running around the big circular sanctuary and didn’t really want to settle down when the ceremony began. I, as godmother, had to be up front with Aunt E, Uncle, Jeff, and godfather Stephen (Erin’s brother), but luckily Kenny took Riley into a little room just behind where the crowd was sitting. He played in there with his daddy while Kate was blessed and baptized.

After the ceremony was over, everyone went back to Jeff and Erin’s house for a late lunch. They did a great job with everything, from food to drink to decorations. Kate was passed around from person to person, and she slept most of the time. It was so nice spending time with both sets of families; it was just too bad the Saints couldn’t pull off a win against the Packers. 0 - 4 = Ouch.

 

 

Congratulations, Kate, on your very special day. I know your parents are so proud of their baby girl, and we are too. And I can’t stress enough how honored I am to be your godmother.

We are going to have some fun as you grow up, girlie, and I can’t wait.
