While most of us were out busting a move on the dance floor, the crowd suddenly surged towards the back of the room. I ran back there to see what was going on and saw Scott standing at the head of the throng, waiting. Waiting for what, no one knew. The only suspicious thing was that Jacque had disappeared.
When she came back into the ballroom a few minutes later, she had a different dress on, and she had brought a friend with her: LSU’s mascot Mike the Tiger! Scott was SHOCKED. If you know him, you know how big a deal this was to him.
Mike led the crowd back to the dance floor and the party resumed in full force. Scott said multiple times the rest of the night, “Remember that time when Mike the Tiger showed up at my wedding?” I think he very much liked his surprise from his new wife. Jacque did good. Very good.
When it was time for the second line at the end of the night, Jacque and Scott were handed their umbrellas and joined Mike in dancing down the length of the lobby to the Sazerac Bar for the after party. Mike was also kind enough to pose for pictures with some of the wedding guests, myself and Grandma included!
Kenny and I had actually never been to the Sazerac before, so we were glad for the chance to go. The fact that we didn’t have to change locations to get there was a huge bonus. Everyone was feeling good after a really fun night, and it was great spending even more time with our friends.
It certainly was an epic event. These two looked so radiant and happy all night long, as well they should have.
Congratulations to you both, Jacque and Scott. Kenny and I were so glad to be a part of this special and important time in your lives, and we want to officially welcome you to married life. It’s pretty awesome.
Happy Monday!
