So much to catch y’all up on and sooooooo little time left: Riley starts school tomorrow. Tomorrow.
Where did the freaking summer go??? I sure as heck don’t know. So let’s not waste any more time. Here is the last recap of our summer days.
The week after we got back from the beach, we went to lunch with Daddy and played at his office for a bit beforehand. The two boys looked so cute sitting together in his desk chair and “riding” on the forklift in the warehouse.
After lunch we sent Daddy back to work but decided not to go straight home. Instead we went to play in the maze at KidSports. (This is actually where Riley’s birthday party will be at the end of this month. He’s so excited.)
The next day we met Dana, Claire, and Colin at Sal’s Snoballs to have an afternoon treat with three special guests: Ms. Amanda, Ms. Lisa, and Ms. Milene. The kids were so happy to see them, and their old teachers loved seeing them as well.
The following Thursday was our trip to Jambalaya Park, and then we went to see Planes: Fire and Rescue with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Steve, and Zac that weekend.
On Monday of the next week I took Riley school shoe shopping and then treated him to a bouncing session afterward. He was actually able to bounce all by himself a few times!
Three days later we met up with Dana, Claire, Colin, Diana, and Alcee for a PJ playdate. We kept the kids in their pajamas and went to Chick-Fil-A for breakfast. Then, because the restaurant’s play area was closed, we went to a nearby playground afterwards. SO much fun.
This past weekend Riley was reunited with lots of his old classmates at Jack’s birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. Seeing them all enjoy playing together again makes me even more excited for Riley’s party in a couple of weeks.
The next day, Grandma and Grandpa decided they wanted to give “a week at Grandma’s” another go. They picked Riley up on Sunday afternoon and he stayed with them without incident for two nights. Hooray!
While Riley was off having fun with Grandma and Grandpa, Kenny and I got to meet his new teacher on Monday night at orientation. Her name is Mrs. Amelie, and I think Riley is really going to like her. She’s young, she personable, and she seems like she’ll be lots of fun.
Mrs. Amelie’s PK4 classroom is decorated in a beach theme, so there were colorful leis, shells, and sea life all over the place. Kenny and I are just crossing our fingers that Riley doesn’t freak out when he sees that Sophia and Cole got green flip flop nametags in their cubbies and he didn’t. We shall see…..
Sadly, neither Alcee nor Claire nor Jack are in Riley’s class this year. However, he will see a handful of familiar faces, as well as quite a few new ones. I’m hopeful he will have a fantastic year, and I cannot wait for him to get started. TOMORROW!
By the end of today, summer will be officially over. It wasn’t always easy to deal with both boys being home and keeping them entertained for three months, but we did have a whole lot of fun. I hope they feel that way too.
And I can only get better at managing summers around here, right? Right.
