Breakfast with Santa and Red Fish Grill Gingerbread Workshop

Like last year, the first Saturday in December was a busy one for us. We started out at SCR for the annual Breakfast with Santa. The set up was a bit different, but it was still as fun an event as ever. The food was great, the crowd was a manageable size, and there was even a candy bar. Oh, and Riley ended up winning a drone from the prize raffle!

We left school and headed straight downtown for our second main event of the day: the gingerbread workshop at Red Fish Grill. Traffic in the Quarter was a bit crazy, so we ended up parking on Rampart and walking up to Bourbon. That meant we got a perfect view of the doomed Hard Rock Hotel collapse site. Incredible.

We were the first to arrive at the restaurant, so we checked in and found our table for 19. The kids ended up clustering at one end and the adults at the other. We stuck Kenny in the last seat near the wall on account of him being sick. My poor Baby. He was a trooper this day; he really wasn't feeling well.

Once all the kids were there, they got started on their houses. This was the first year the boys weren't sitting anywhere near Kenny or me, so their house is completely their work. I like Riley's hanging candy off of the roof, as well as Rory's peanut butter cup and chocolate bell tree. They did good!

The restaurant itself was very festive and packed with people. Ashley, Greg, Grant, and Emory were there, and of course we saw Santa and his elves.

After lunch and with 5 uniquely decorated houses in hand, we moved on. The SEC Championship game was that afternoon, so Dana and Dave bailed early, but the rest of us decided to do what we did last year: walk through the Ritz and the Roosevelt hotels before going home to watch the game. Super crowded, but I'm glad we did it. I loved the new tugboat display at the Ritz!

We got home just after 4pm and watched LSU beat Georgia in the SEC Championship game.

What a fun day.
