We were excited to be able to return to Diana and Jamey’s condo in Miramar Beach again this summer. Plans came together very easily and before we knew it, we were on the road. Kenny and Dave were able to take off work and come up with us this year, and we all set out the morning of June 1 for the 4.5-hour drive.
McDonald’s is giving away Beanie Boo toys in their Happy Meals right now, and the boys insisted on stopping there for lunch so they could each get one. Riley got the white tiger and Rory got the seal. They were so happy and now want to collect all 12. Super.
We arrived mid-afternoon and decided to go straight out to the beach. The 5 kids had a great time together, as did the 6 adults. Claire and Alcee ended up having the same bathing suit on, Rory and Colin both had trucks to push, and Riley dug a big hole in the sand. Everyone was happy!
We went back to the condo for showers and dinner and Moana and sleep. Then we woke up and did it all again the next day.
A guy out snorkeling found a big hermit crab and gave it to the kids. They held onto it all day in a bucket until Diana encouraged them to release it before we packed up and headed back. Then we spent a little time at the pool before officially calling it a day.
We had a lazy Saturday morning and the girls actually spent a couple of hours at the outlets. We also stopped at Alvin’s Island to buy Kenny and Dave awesome new flamingo bathing suits! Then while everyone else headed to the pool, Kenny and I took our two to the beach. We had such a great time, splashing and digging and racing and playing.
While Kenny took Rory to the pool, Riley and I stayed out at the beach a bit longer, and I got a picture of him on a huge inflatable flamingo. He was so excited to show Mrs. Dana.
We met back up with the others at the pool (with Claire and Alcee in another round of matching bathing suits, outlet purchases), where I made a new friend before we walked back to the condo and gave the kids a pre-dinner watermelon snack. Rory must have had about 6 pieces.
The kiddos were a bit wiped after three days of sun, so they had no problem chilling out in front of tv all evening. Then the adults were able to watch LSU beat SELU in regional baseball after the kids went to bed. Successful day all around!
We packed up on Sunday morning, said our goodbyes, and got on the road for home. We of course had to stop at McDonald’s again for more Beanie Boos, and both boys got exactly what they wanted: a giraffe and a bull. Then Rory passed out while Riley watched The Little Mermaid.
Such a fun trip. Thanks so much for having us, Diana and Jamey…..Riley is already anticipating going again next year!
