Friday, May 6 was SCR’s annual Field Day. Kenny, Rory, and I all went to see Riley and his friends participate in the fun morning that Mrs. Jean and Ms. Milene organized for the kids at Bright Playground. It was a beautiful day!
Kindergarten got to participate in the same things the older kids were doing, and they all had a great time. They had a sponge race, threw balls, did a basket toss, went through an inflatable obstacle course, played tug-of-war, and ran a 50-yard dash.
Then they celebrated their athletic accomplishments with snoballs and by taking turns on a huge inflatable slide. Rory even got a few bites of his brother’s snoball and a slide.
Field Day wrapped up around 11:15. We headed to Nola’s for about an hour until we had to leave again. Remember the item I won at the gala, pizza and snoballs with the kindergarten teachers? Well, they decided to schedule it for that afternoon. Rory and I brought Riley to meet Mrs. Allison and Mrs. Ceci and the other teachers and auction winners at Mark Twain’s Pizza. He said they had a great time!
Then they walked to Sal’s to get snoballs, and Rory and I met them there. Such a fun treat for them to spend time with their teachers outside of the classroom; I’m glad I was able to give that to him.
Here’s a short video of Riley doing the 50-yard dash. Enjoy!
This is his very last week of kindergarten. Graduation is on Thursday and then he’s done. And officially a first grader.
Gulp.
