Thirteen Months {Rory}

Rory is thirteen months old today! He weighs 25.2 pounds and stands about 30.5 inches tall. He is in 18-month clothes and I am praying that he still fits in that size come summer. He got lots of cute things for his birthday all in 18 months and he better be able to wear all of it!

Here’s what I want to remember about this past month:

• He is still taking a bottle (sippy transition did not go well so I’ll try again in a few weeks), but as of the end of March he is no longer on formula. From now on, it’s all cow’s milk. Kenny and I are loving not having to fool with formula anymore. He takes three bottles of about 6 ounces every day.
• Despite the fail with milk in a sippy, he’s doing much better with taking water from it. So that’s a little victory.
• As for eating, he’s doing really well with table food. Some days he doesn’t want what I offer him, but he’s ultimately doing great. He doesn’t want much to do with vegetables (except broccoli), but he’ll eat just about any protein I put in front of him. He still loves his yogurt and most fruits. He continues to try new things, and that’s all we can ask for.
• However, he has started the ever popular game of throwing food onto the floor when he doesn’t want it. Super fun for me.
• He has also started grinding his front teeth together, which makes the most God-awful sound. I remember Riley doing the same thing, and it makes me cringe.
• Speaking of teeth, he still only has four, but he has got to growing more because he has been SO. WHINY. this month.
• He’s had some trouble with naps this month, especially his afternoon one, which makes him very tired at the end of the day. But he is still sleeping good at night, only waking up and crying out a few times this month. He has a paci whenever he’s in his crib, but I have been trying to limit his use of it during the day.
• He has the most gorgeous blue eyes, just like his daddy. And his hair is really lightening up, so it would appear he is destined to blonde just like his big brother.
• He dances whenever he hears music (most of the time), which involves him wiggling and rocking from side to side while sitting. So cute.
• He loves pushing toys across the floor, especially any of his brother’s monster trucks.
• He LOVES climbing the stairs, so we have had to put two of the couch cushions and the chair ottoman in front of them to block him. But when we do let him climb, he does really well on the stairs. And he also now knows to turn around to go back down. He actually turns around in a circle at the top of the stairs for a bit before finally backing himself down. Too funny.
• He took his first steps on the afternoon of April 1. He is still not walking completely on his own, but he is a maniac with his push toy. (I’ll post a video later this week.) And he’ll walk a few steps to someone if he’s in the mood.
• He is extremely attached to me. Not so much so that he won’t go to other people he knows, but he definitely prefers me if given the choice. Cute but a bit annoying at times.
