How is it possible that Riley only has one more month left of his first year of preschool? Where does the time go??? Sheesh.
They returned to school from Mardi Gras break on March 10 and jumped right back into learning. (There also happened to be a birthday to celebrate on their first day back, if you couldn’t tell from the icing all over the boy’s face above. Goodness.) Their themes for the past six weeks were “How Do Plants Grow?”, “What’s in the Sky?”, “Our Weather,” “The Seasons,” “Going New Places,” and “Holy Week and Easter.”
They studied letters “T” through “X.” The learned about addition, turns and flips with shapes, temperature, creating and recognizing patterns, and position words.
In religion, they studied about Lent, life after death, and Palm Sunday. They also learned that God comes first in our lives and that He cares for us.
They planted seeds, but Ms. Amanda confessed she might have overwatered them so I’m not sure if any of them actually grew. They also created sun and moon masks and made their own little clouds.
They pretended to be thermometers and created snowy pictures. They played a four seasons game. They went on a pretend lion hunt.
They continued to work on their scissor skills. It’s hard to tell in the picture below, but each one of those lines is cut up to the bunny at the top, albeit a little jagged and messy. We were also sent a scissor skill practice sheet to do at home with Riley, but we have not actually done so. Yet. (Oops.)
They attended an all-school mass and celebrated St. Joseph’s Day on March 19. They went to the school book fair during their library time on April 2. They had high school visitors come to hang out with them on April 11.
They had a spirit day on March 28 and got to wear a SCR t-shirt to school that day. Ms. Lisa and Riley had the same shirt on! And Riley must have demonstrated his school spirit a whole lot that morning because he passed out with Max during naptime.
As you saw already, they had an Easter egg hunt and class party on Wednesday, April 16. They also did lots of Easter-related drawings and paintings. Riley actually missed painting his own Easter egg (he was home sick that day), but I took a picture of Alcee’s.
They also did a special Easter art project on April 11, and I was one of the moms that helped. We assisted the kids in making washcloth bunnies. So cute.
Lastly, I’ll leave you with this picture of Riley and Ms. Amanda.
I received it from her when I was on my way to pick him up one day. Because of Rory’s second nap occurring right when Riley’s school day ends, I usually have to wake the little one up so we can go get his big brother. I am almost always the last person to pick up in the afternoons. As such, Riley gets to spend a little extra time with Ms. Amanda, which she says is absolutely fine but that I feel guilty about every day I’m late.
But she won’t have to deal with my being late too much longer…..there are only four more weeks of the school year left. Then it’s thirteen long weeks of summer vacation before Riley moves up to PK4 and the Big School.
I repeat: where does the time go???

The time continuum is cray.
