One week from today is Rory’s last day of PK3. And Riley only has one more week after that until he’s done. And then it’s SUMMER! They are so excited.
First, though, I wanted to catch y’all up on what they’ve been doing the last couple of months. On March 22 I went to PK3 to help with their Easter art project: an adorable handprint bunny and thumbprint Easter eggs plate. They turned out SO cute.
A week later PK3 had a visit from the Zoomobile, and they got to see a snake, a frog, and a ferret. Pretty cool!
The next day, March 30, I was in first grade for a fun spring art project. The kids decorated flower pots and got to take home their own pot complete with a yellow marigold. Cute!
PK3 celebrated Ms. Lisa’s birthday on March 31 and Rory apparently had the best time at her party. She told me he spontaneously got out of his chair and started dancing crazily. Too funny.
One week later, on April 7, PK3 had a surprise guest: the Easter Bunny! It was really Mrs. Wendy dressed up as the bunny; she came as a mystery reader and gave all of the kids their own cute stuffed bunny and a bubble carrot necklace.
On April 25 PK3 had a visit from the Bugmobile, and they got to see Madagascar hissing cockroaches, a millipede, a tarantula, and a hornworm!
Kenny went to PK3 the next day to help with their last art project of the year, for Mother’s Day. This is the only picture I got, but I do spy an orange-painted hand! Kenny said what they did turned out really cute. I can’t wait to see it!
I popped into PK3 on May 2 and May 3 to help with two end of the year projects. I helped Lisa put the kids’ handprints onto their end of the year shirts on Tuesday…..
…..and on Wednesday I helped the kids stuff their very own “Hoppers” that they got to take home with them. Claire and Lisa requested that we do this when we met at the very beginning of the year, and I’m so glad we set aside the money to do so. What a wonderful memento for the kids to have of their PK3 year!
On Thursday of that same week I went to first grade to help with their last art project of the year. They made a tiny pot of paper handprint flowers. So precious!
May 1-5 was Teacher Appreciation Week at SCR. We did special things for all of the boys’ teachers each day, and it was so nice to be able to honor them. On Monday Rory brought Mrs. Claire and Ms. Lisa each a pack of post-it notes and Riley brought Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Platner a fun snack. They were so excited and proud to carry their gifts in to their teachers!
On Tuesday Riley brought flowers to his teachers and the PK3 room moms treated our teachers to coffee and cookies.
On Wednesday both boys brought in fun-colored Sharpies for their teachers. I forgot to take pics though! Then on Thursday Riley brought in pictures he drew for Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Platner, which I also forgot to take pictures of. (It was a super busy week. Have I mentioned that Kenny was out of town as well? Yeah. Super busy.) Thursday was also the school-wide faculty appreciation luncheon that PK3 helped sponsor. We did a combination Mexican Fiesta/May the 4th Be with You theme. SO fun. We set up a nacho bar and also had beans and Mexican rice, as well as a selection of desserts. The teachers LOVED it. I mean, how can you not enjoy Darth Vader in a huge sombrero???
To round out the appreciation week, we contributed to a class gift card, Earthsavers for the PK3 teachers and Starbucks for 1st grade, which were presented to them at drop-off on Friday morning. The teachers were all so happy. I think they had a fantastic week!
Dana and I also organized a cute end of the year gift for Mrs. Claire and Ms. Lisa, which we got the kids to help with on the same day we did their stuffed frogs. I gave them their fingerprint apple tree pictures on Tuesday. They loved them!
I can’t believe they’ll both be done in a little more than two weeks. Where the heck did this year go???
