We had another wonderful Mother’s Day weekend this year. Kenny’s parents came over on Saturday, and we all went to see a movie. Grandma chose Born in China, which was very appropriate for the occasion. It was all about animal mothers taking care of their babies, and it was Disney, so you know it was great. It didn’t quite keep Rory’s attention, though; he fell asleep on me after about an hour.
Grandma and Grandpa came back to our house after the movie and Kenny made grilled salmon and asparagus and roasted potatoes for us for dinner. So good!
There was also a bit of excitement just after dinner. Riley came racing down the stairs exclaiming that there was an emergency: he and Rory had been chasing each other around upstairs and Rory somehow knocked Riley’s latest loose tooth out. This first picture is a bit graphic, but don’t worry. He’s just fine, and the Tooth Fairy brought him $2 for his tooth.
The next day I slept in and woke up to yummy breakfast smells. Kenny made the same things he did for me last year (my favorites!): crunchy French toast with salted caramel sauce and bacon. So good. And all of my boys spoiled me with cards, drawings, and gifts. I felt so loved.Too funny to discover that Rory thinks I am 13 years old with silver eyes and kinda black hair.
We had a lazy rest of the day, staying in our pajamas. I got lots of blogging done, Kenny prepped for dinner (Riley even helped a bit!), Riley built a “tiger fortress” on the stair landing, and both boys set up a big block garage for their cars.
We went to Nola and Nopsi’s for our usual Sunday dinner, but the guys did everything and I played in the pool with the boys before we ate. We had shrimp and grits, roasted vegetables, spinach salad, and bread. Oh, and Nopsi made salted caramel ice cream for dessert. Everything was so good.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
