SCR Breakfast with Santa and Kids’ Gingerbread House Party

This was our fourth year attending Breakfast with Santa at SCR, and we had a great time as always. Quite a few of Rory’s friends from school were there, and they all had lots of fun.

Claire and Colin couldn’t go again this year, but Riley and Alcee picked up right where they left off the last time they saw each other. Those two are too much.

And lo and behold, Grandma somehow got Rory to sit on Santa’s lap and smile for a picture with his brother. And then he turned around and told Santa what he wanted for Christmas. I don’t know what Grandma said to him, but it totally worked. I can’t wait to get the official picture back.

We had another fun Christmas event the very next day. However, Rory wasn’t feeling the greatest, so I decided to leave him home with Kenny and take Riley on my own. We went to Karen’s house for our annual gingerbread house decorating party.

It was great fun as always, but my favorite thing was the huge change I noticed in Riley. He really got into decorating this year; I didn’t even have to coax or bribe him to participate. And the design of his house is all his doing; all I helped with was the icing, and I only put it where he told me to.

I loved how all of the kids’ houses turned out. So different and unique.

When we got back home later that afternoon, I told Rory that Ms. Karen sent me with everything he needed to decorate his own house. He was really excited, so we sat down at the dining room table to make his house. He lasted less than five minutes before he got bored and told me I could finish it for him.

We now have three gingerbread houses hanging out on the kitchen counter, and my house smells like a mixture of sugar and Christmas tree. Gotta love it.

Last but not least, a very Happy Birthday to a super special little boy today. Luke is one!
