Riley is still going strong in his tae kwan do classes at World Martial Arts. He’s definitely still awkward at certain skills, and he goofs off way too much in class, but he has improved. And last Friday he got to test for his next level belt: gold.
He only broke one board this time, since his breaking technique changed from hammer fist to side kick. He has struggled with his kicks the past few weeks; his balance gets thrown off and he has trouble correcting it. However, Master Candace had everyone practice their techniques with a pad first, and Riley did well.
Riley chose me to hold his board again, so Kenny took video with my phone (out of focus!) while Rory watched digger videos on his phone. (Rory loves going to WMA because it means he gets 45 minutes to watch videos. Crazy fries.) It took Riley a few attempts to break his board, but he did it.
He was so excited when he finally broke through, and he gave me a big hug afterwards.
Master Matt presented Riley with his new belt after the last student had tested. Riley ran over to give me the flower and immediately went back to Master Matt to have him put on his gold belt.
There was just enough time for a quick round of dodgeball before class was dismissed. Riley took a picture with Masters Matt, Candace, and Tyler, and we took a family selfie as well. So proud of our wonk potatoes. Congratulations, Riley-bean!
Happy Monday!

He's so adorbs. I'm still working that girl crush on Candace, though.
