Last Saturday evening, Kenny and I decided to take the boys to see the Christmas lights in Rivertown. We parked in the same lot where Oktoberfest is held, and Riley wondered where all of the big tents were. Funny.
We had never been to see this light display before, and I’m not sure why. It’s free to get in and fairly close to our house. It was a little warm out that night, but the lights were really pretty, the boys got to decorate a sugar cookie, and there was even “snow” falling. We had a great time!
Two nights later, we went to Celebration in the Oaks with Nola and Nopsi. The boys loved riding down there in Nopsi’s festive van. And we were just all so grateful that it was cold, unlike last year when we were sweating. The boys looked so cute all bundled up and in their Santa hats.
We rode on the train first, and the boys loved it as usual. They added a few more things along the track this year; it was fun discovering even more pretty lights. And I wish I had gotten a picture of Riley’s face when he finally saw his green sea serpent; he just loves that thing.
Once our train ride was over, we walked over to the model train yard (still a favorite of all three of my boys), then through the gardens and pathways, and finally into the greenhouse to see the poinsettia tree. Everything was so pretty.
The boys’ last day of school before Christmas vacation was yesterday. The rest of this week is gonna be crazy…..I can’t believe Christmas is on Sunday!
