The last four weeks in PK3 moved along so very quickly. Their themes were “Trying New Things,” “I Can Do It,” “We’re Big Now”, and “PK4 Here We Come.”
They learned their last two letters, “Y” and “Z,” and also reviewed the entire alphabet. They studied more about patterns, subtraction, how to count to 30, how to compare weights, and how to use measurement words.
They also learned more about the Easter season and practiced sequencing by placing the events leading up to Jesus’ Resurrection in order. They celebrated May Crowning by attending their last all-school mass on May 7. Each student had to bring in a flower for Mary; Riley brought in a cluster of roses from our back garden.
They had a really fun outdoor activity day while the rest of the school participated in Field Day. They celebrated Cinco de Mayo by making sombrero headbands. They helped decorate a Mardi Gras ladder seat for the Gala auction.
They helped celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. Riley brought snoballs to Ms. Amanda, Ms. Michelle, and Ms. Lisa after school one day that week.
They made a special gift for their moms for Mother’s Day, and Kenny actually got to help out the day they did so. Riley was so excited he was there.
They also kept journals, and we were finally able to see Riley’s when his was sent home last week. In small groups, they would sit down at their tables and draw something, then tell Ms. Amanda about what they had drawn. So cute. And some of them, in true wonk potatoes fashion, are really funny.
On their last full day of school for the year, they visited the PK4 classrooms and met the PK4 teachers, Ms. Sue and Ms. Rose. They also were treated to a bouncy house and pizza party that day. And I decided to make {green} cupcakes for all of them in honor of their last day.
The bouncy house was a huge hit, as were the green cupcakes. The kids had such a fun last full day of their PK3 year.
The next day, Friday, May 16, was their very last time being dropped off outside the PK3 building. They were only at school for a couple of hours, but they were so cute performing three songs as part of their end-of-the-year program.
And I only cried a little bit.
Final 2013-14 PK3 school year recap coming up next!
