Well, it only took 16 days for the main part of Rory’s umbilical stump to fall off. That’s a far cry from the five and a half weeks it took for Riley’s to vacate the premises.
He did have a little hard nub of residual cord tissue that still needed to dry up (at first making me think that he had an “outie” belly button), and that took an additional week. We were finally able to give him his first real bath last Friday night. (Yes, in the middle of all of the sickness.)
He seemed to enjoy his bath quite a lot. He didn’t really cry; he just kind of looked around in wonder at what in the world was happening to him.
He got a little fussy when I washed his hair and when we took him out to dry him off, but for the most part he was fairly relaxed.
I am already looking forward to the day when I can bathe both boys together. That may just make me like bath time more. For a little while at least.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
