Lizzie honored her bridesmaids and female relatives with a wonderful luncheon at Arnaud’s in the French Quarter the day before the wedding. We met at the restaurant at 11:30 in the morning and didn’t leave for almost four hours.
The food was so good but the company was better. Lizzie sure knows how to surround herself with fabulous females, and I count myself very lucky to be a member of that exclusive group.
While most of the girls who wanted to speak on Lizzie and Doug’s behalf did so at the rehearsal dinner, Cynthia chose to wait and give her speech at the luncheon. It was the perfect venue for what she worked up, which was to designate each of the bridesmaids and the bride as a Disney princess, complete with explanations as to why. It was such a creative idea, and it was perfect for our Lizzie!
We ended our time at Arnaud’s with a spot of tea then walked back to the hotel to relax for the rest of the afternoon. A welcome reception was scheduled for the early part of the evening in one of the hotel’s meeting rooms, and we all made an appearance at that before going back to Lizzie’s bridal suite for some down time.
Oh, and the bridesmaids spontaneously decided to perform a flash mob kind of dance to surprise Lizzie with at the reception, which we practiced while she was already downstairs at the welcome party. It was a big hit the next night!
Once the welcome party was over, we decorated the bridal suite before calling it a night so it would be all ready to go for pictures. Of course the theme was Cinco de Mayo fiesta festive! Also, Jackie finally made it into town around 9pm so she stopped by the suite to say hi. A few silly pictures later, we dispersed to our respective rooms and rested up for the big next day.
Wedding day recap coming up tomorrow!
