The boys’ Easter vacation started on Holy Thursday. A big storm moved through here that afternoon, dropping the temperature and creating big puddles. So naturally, Rory and I went out to splash in them. Riley chose to stay dry inside.
Good Friday dawned bright and sunny. Rory and I went for a walk (where he climbed up on an empty pedestal and became a Rory statue…ha!) and then discovered Kenny and Riley riding bikes when we got back to the house. Rory is doing great on his bike, thanks to his training wheels, but Riley acts as if it’s the hardest thing he’s ever done in his life. We may break down and get him training wheels too. I don’t want him to cry every time we suggest riding bikes!
Later that afternoon, Kenny helped Riley do something much more to his liking. They assembled a 3D crystal skull puzzle. It was quite the challenge but they finally did it after almost an hour!
Saturday morning was the CCC. Kenny took the boys to Mary Jane’s birthday party at Surge while I enjoyed the post-race fest and then went home to shower and rest. When we all came back together, it was to dye Easter eggs that afternoon, thanks to my sweet husband stopping for supplies on their way home from the party. I wasn’t going to dye eggs this year; I didn’t think the boys would miss it. But the tie dye and monster kits they picked out were a hit.
Easter Sunday recap coming up next!

Cool eggs. Thanks for continuing the tradition, Ken. Also, I am so glad he liked and assembled the crystal skull. I thought it was cool and was hoping he would too.
I think training wheels for Riley is a good idea. Give him that great bike feeling of freedom and independence! They will come off eventually, anyway.
