Last Saturday officially kicked off Mardi Gras for us. That morning, Jeff and I ran the first ever Mardi Gras 5K race, put on by NOTC. The course was on part of the Metairie parade route, starting at Causeway and Vets, going down to Bonnabel and then all the way to West Esplanade, and back. It was a great morning, although a little warm out, and I actually set a PR: I finished in 36:13 with a pace of 11:41.
I picked up our first crawfish of the season from Rouses for Kenny and I to have for lunch and got sweet cuddles from my boys when I got home. Rory hadn’t been feeling the greatest, so we weren’t sure what that meant for our evening plans.
The Caesar parade, one of our Metairie favorites, rolled that night. Unfortunately, Kenny and I decided that it would be best for Rory to skip the parade, so Riley and I went on our own to meet everyone.
It was a nice night, lots of friends and family showed up, and Riley was really into seeing the floats this year. It was a great way to start off another fun Mardi Gras season!
