On November 1, Grandpa turned 70. Coincidentally, the boys had off of school on account of parent-teacher conferences. So, after Kenny and I met with their teachers, the four of us drove across the lake to meet Grandma and Grandpa for a birthday lunch at Chimes. It was a beautiful day!
We went back to their house after lunch to visit a bit more and to give Grandpa his presents, sing to him, and have some cake. Happy happy birthday, Grandpa!
Five days later, Nola and Nopsi surprised Aunt E (whose birthday is November 3) and me at Sunday dinner with two delicious cakes from Whole Foods, a chantilly cream and a chocolate turtle. Yum.
Then last Thursday, Kenny took me out for an early birthday dinner. Grandma stayed with the boys while we went to Carrollton Market.
We sat at the bar overlooking the open kitchen and had a great night. Chefs Scott and Tyler took good care of us, explaining what they were doing, answering all of our questions, and even giving us extra tastes of a few things. We shared three appetizers, two entrees, two desserts, and a bottle of wine. Everything was really good, but the amuse bouche of tuna crudo was my favorite. Oh, and the mini beignets that came with my pot de creme. So tasty.
Thanks for a wonderful night out, Ken. It was just what I needed after all of the craziness leading up to the SCR fair!
Recaps of that coming up next week. I absolutely love fair weekend, but I am so glad I’m able to breathe again.
