Kate turned 4 on July 31. Erin had her birthday party at Creole Creamery on Prytania Street the morning before. The boys were very excited to be able to eat ice cream before lunch.
As usual, everything was super cute. I especially loved the grouping of pictures with the caption “Sweeter each year.” And the cake was awesome.
Everyone snacked and chatted until it was time for the main event: making ice cream sundaes! Riley chose cotton candy ice cream, topped it with gummy bears, sprinkles, and cherries, and ate the whole thing. Rory chose vanilla ice cream (with a few M&Ms on the side) and took maybe two bites. Kate and all of her little friends from school loved their sundaes and had the ice cream mustaches to prove it.
We hadn’t been to Creole Creamery before, so I made sure to sample a few of their yummy flavors. The blueberry mojito was so good, as was the salted caramel. We definitely need to take a trip back there!
Once everyone had had their fill of ice cream, it was time to sing “Happy Birthday” and cut the cake. Nothing like sugar on top of sugar at 11am in the morning! The kids were in heaven.
The kids worked off some of the sweetness by playing with all of the balloons Erin had as decorations. At one point, Riley had balloons tied around both of his shoes and I looked down and saw another tied onto one of my big toes. That husband of mine, I swear.
Party over, we wished the almost 4-year-old well and headed out. We saw her on her birthday the next day, though, as Jeff and Erin invited the family over to their house for dinner. Riley was very excited to give Kate her present from us. We got her a cute watermelon dress from Gymboree, her own stuffed Dory, and the Elsa castle Lego set. She requested the last item, provided that Riley help her build it.
He only built half of bag one, though, so CC stepped in and finished the job. Anything for my goddaughter on her birthday!
After dinner, we got to sing to the birthday girl again and have more of the yummy cake leftover from her party. It was a great night and a fun celebration of the new 4-year-old.
Happy happy birthday, sweet and sassy Kate…..we love you lots!
