I promise I will bombard y’all with lots and lots of pictures and stories from our beach vacation soon, but first I wanted to document this year’s Father’s Day.
We actually celebrated with Nopsi a bit early, on the day before we left the beach. We all gathered around the table in the kitchen before dinner and gave him his cards and gift (a Jazz Fest shirt). We love you, Nopsi!
I got up with the boys on Sunday morning (neither of whom slept in, even though they desperately needed the sleep) and let Kenny rest. When he got up, I made him a Father’s Day breakfast of bacon and eggs and French toast. The boys gave him their cards and gifts, as well as a few things that Riley made in Kindergarten Readiness Camp that I hadn’t let Kenny see. Apparently, Riley thinks his daddy rocks because “he cooks me good dinner.” However, Riley was most excited about the Darth Vader card he picked out for Ken. Naturally.
Three of the ‘Woods are actually in town right now, so we celebrated with them and the rest of Kenny’s family at a crawfish boil at our house on Sunday afternoon. However, earlier that day, while Kenny, Steve, and Debbie went off to have a sibling lunch and run errands, Grandma and Grandpa took the four oldest cousins to see the circus. It was Riley’s first time and Grandma said he was pretty mesmerized.
Rory stayed with me, held my hand while he ate lunch, and took a three-hour nap. Then when his daddy got home, he helped him put beer away in the kegerator. Kenny was so proud.
When the circus attendees finally got back to the house, margaritas and homemade salsa were made and the crawfish were underway. The boys all piled onto the sofa to look at Riley’s new Lego Star Wars character book, and it warmed my heart to see that scene. Riley is SO excited to have his cousins around him so much this week.
Kenny boiled 60 pounds of really tasty crawfish; everyone really enjoyed them. We ate in the kitchen since it was so darn hot outside. The boys ran off to play once they had finished, and everyone had a great time.
Lots more with the ‘Woods to come, but first the recaps of our beach vacation with Nola, Nopsi, Aunt E, Uncle Jeff, and Kate.
It’s really a shame we didn’t have any fun.

Sounds like a great day to honor the Dads ... I just have to say, the more I see it the more I ADORE Rory's haircut! So Darn Cute!
