Nineteen Months {Rory}

Rory is 19 months old today. I had actually planned to stop posting his “birthday” updates, but then I remembered that I regularly posted Riley’s updates every month until he was two. Gotta be fair to both of my boys.

Despite the fact that Rory isn’t doing or saying or eating nearly as much as Riley did at his age. But those cheeks and dimples of his sure do make up for that.

At 19 months, Rory weighs 27.2 pounds and stands about 32 inches tall. He is mostly wearing 24-month and 2T clothing, a size 6 shoe, and a size 5 diaper.

Here’s what I want to remember about this past month:

• He is still eating at least one really good meal a day, but a lot of days he eats a good breakfast and dinner and a smaller lunch. He still drinks milk three times a day like a champ. And water the rest of the day.
• He has recently taken an interest in eating with a fork, even though he uses his fingers most of the time. He’ll probably end up being better with a fork than his brother is!
• He has 15 teeth.
• He has been doing great with one nap a day, sleeping for 2-2.5 hours. I usually put him down around 12:15 and most days he sleeps until we have to pick Riley up from school.
• He’s still not really talking, but he is vocal. And I know he understands so much.
• He knows where his nose, ears, and eyes are, and we’re working on his mouth. He actually loves grabbing those parts of me when I’m rocking him at night. Silly boy.
• He is still a bit shy around people he doesn’t know.
• I have been taking him with me to Jazzercise, and it only took him a couple of weeks to get used to the nursery and to not cry when I left him for an hour. I remember going through the same thing with Riley.
• He loves trucks, and he usually carries one around with him. But he has to spin it around until the front end is pointing away from him. He likes to hold it correctly.
• He loves being crazy with his big brother. Those two can be so silly.
• He will give kisses and hugs if asked. And when asked to go tell Mama or Daddy goodnight, he runs right to us.
• He loves zooming trucks off of the various tables in the house, resulting in a few broken toys.
• He loves playing outside. He loves airplanes. He loves his baths. He LOVES books.

And we love him.
