Holy cow. One big, fat, huge School Days update coming your way in a couple of weeks. I don’t think Riley’s folder has been empty one single day since the start of his PK4 year. They are doing SO much, and I can’t wait to share it all with y’all.
But first, let me recap Grandparents’ Day. It was held on Friday, September 26. Riley was supremely lucky in that all four of his grandparents were able to attend this special day at his school.
The celebration kicked off with an all-school mass at 10am. The kids were brought into the church at 9:30 (!) so Riley was understandably fidgety by the time the service started. Luckily, Nola had come prepared with a stash of micro airplanes. They kept Riley entertained and quiet throughout the entire mass. I suppose we’ll worry about him paying attention and actually getting something out of going to church when he’s a bit older.
After mass, Riley led Nola, Nopsi, Grandma, and Grandpa to his classroom. They got to see his cubby, where he sits, examples of his work, and the different centers he gets to play in each day. He loved showing them the big fire truck.
And they got to meet Ms. Amelie, who was kind enough to take a picture of them with Riley. See if you can spot his baby picture hanging up in the background…..they talked about how they used to be babies during “Bb” week.
The kids colored pictures for their grandparents, which they got to take home. The captions on Riley’s actually got switched: the top one is his dragon, and the bottom one is his Halloween list.
The preschoolers also treated the grandparents to a little singing performance. Riley’s expressions were priceless. He cycled through utter annoyance to surprise to reluctant acceptance to committed performance to complete joy that it’s over. Love him so much.
Nopsi recorded the performance on his phone, so please enjoy.
Big thank you to Nola, Nopsi, Grandma, and Grandpa for taking time our of their day to be there for Riley. I hope you enjoyed a little peek into his world at school!
