For all of the northerners reading today, please don’t laugh at us. No matter how minor it seems, we just don’t always know how to handle ourselves when things like this happen down here in the South!
Yesterday (and today, for that matter) New Orleans experienced uncharacteristically wintry weather. The entire city basically shut down on account of freezing rain and sleet moving through the area.
Riley was off of school, Kenny worked from home, and I tried to come up with fun ways to keep two kids entertained all day. Hence, Sneaux Day 2014.
The really cold stuff didn’t get here until 2pm, but we sadly didn’t see any snow. A decent amount of freezing rain fell and accumulated a bit in our gardens, but that’s about it. After both boys were up from their naps, we bundled up and headed outside to check it out…..
…..but our field trip lasted approximately 6.2 minutes before Riley had a meltdown saying he was cold. So we came back inside. This does not bode well for our future ski vacations.
We fed the boys dinner, gave them a quick bubble bath, and tucked them warm and snug into their beds. Then we were finally able to taste what had been cooking in the crockpot all day long and settle in for a relaxing evening catching up on The Blacklist (our new favorite show).
The rest of the weather moved through overnight and, in typical Louisiana fashion, it’s supposed to be in the 70s by Saturday. Riley is off of school again today, so we’ll spend one more day inside. As for me, I’m going to try my hardest to remember these two days when I’m sweltering in the summer heat.
Happy Sneaux Day, y’all!

Fun blog. My sneaux day was very quiet; I reorganized all of my recipes which, of course, made me VERY happy. Come on over later if you need a change of scenery. Erin and Kate will do the same.
Another memory Sneaux day in New Orleans Wonderful blog- I loved it. Hugs, Grams
Sneaux day = busy day for QP, but at least I got to work from the comfort of home with the kitties!
