The Last Four Days

1. Friday: There was nothing special about the day (Jazzercise then running errands then back home); it was the evening that was awesome. Uncle Jeff, Aunt E, Kenny, and I went on a double date downtown. First we ate dinner at Borgne, which was fabulous. Kenny and I had been once before but Jeff and Erin hadn’t. It’s a casual place with slightly pricey but really good food. {The blue crab bisque and the pulled pork empanadas are spectacular.} However, dinner wasn’t the main reason for our outing. The Chocoholics Dessert Bar upstairs in the Hyatt Regency Hotel was.

I had read about it on another blog a few weeks ago, and the four of us had been planning to check it out ever since. The bar was two long tables filled with all sorts of sweet creations. Most of it was chocolate, but there were a few non-choc things as well. (The mini fruit tarts were actually surprisingly good, as were the hazelnut sugar cookies and the coconut rochets.}

There were a number of things I did not care for, but there were plenty of items I really loved. The sipping chocolate was wonderful, as were the mini chocolate-caramel pies and the chocolate pots de crème. I wish I had had more room in my stomach, but I eventually got to where I just could not eat any more.

Thanks for the fun night out, Uncle Jeff and Aunt E! Maybe we’ll do a return trip once Doodlebug is here…..

2. Saturday: Grant’s 4th birthday party was at 10am at the Bounce Spectrum, where Aunt E and I took Riley-bean a few weeks ago. Riley had fun running around with some of his friends; it was nice to have the place all to ourselves.

Julia and Maddie put themselves in charge of making sure Riley and Jack made it safely down the big slides. You can tell both girls are excellent big sisters: they did a wonderful job with the two littler boys.

Daddy even got to take a couple of slides with his boy:

Riley also had a slight fascination with one particular bouncy that had inflatable poles in it. He would hug one, then fall over, and repeat the process until he finally conquered it. It was really funny to watch.

Thanks, Grant, for letting us share your birthday with you!

3. Sunday: We had a lazy morning around the house and then headed out to the grocery to shop for the week. We stopped by Uncle Jeff and Aunt E’s house first to see Doodlebug’s nursery and so Riley-bean could play with Doug a bit. We came home after the grocery for a late lunch, a nap for Riley-bean, and laundry and bathroom cleaning for me, all while listening to thunder from a storm moving in. I just love rainy Sunday afternoons.

4. Monday: Yesterday was Grandma’s birthday. Kenny, Riley, and I took her out to lunch at Joey K’s, and we had a great birthday meal. Glad you were free, Grandma, and hope you had fun. Happy Birthday to you!

Happy birthday, Grandma! What better way to spend it than with your 2 of your favorite boys?!

Thanks for such a nice day. The food was very good and the company even better. Sorry, somehow I missed this post earlier.
