Nola is in New Orleans right now and has been since Sunday. She simply could not go any longer without seeing the boy. It had been just over a month since they were last together, and she was afraid he wouldn’t remember who she was anymore. I told her she was being silly.
I was right.
It took Riley a teeny, tiny, miniscule amount of time to warm up to her, but then it was like she never left. I knew he wouldn’t couldn’t forget his Nola!
So while Kenny has been slaving away at the office this week, the three of us have had lots of fun. Nola has taken Riley into the pool every morning she has been here, and he has been loving that. We went to Bravo for lunch on Tuesday, and Riley flirted with practically everyone in the restaurant. (And he had a great time playing with two spoons and attempting to stuff an entire piece of bread into his mouth.)
We also ran a couple of errands together yesterday, including a stop at Michael’s to get a few more things for Riley’s party. He looked like such a big boy sitting in those small shopping carts! (And aren’t those sandals so cute? Thanks, Aunt E!)
Nola also stayed home with Riley while I went off by myself to get a few things done, including spending a couple of hours at the DMV one morning to renew my license and registration and change the address on both. Good times. But the best thing this week was my date night with Kenny on Monday. We had dinner at Zea (where we sat at the bar, eating and drinking and designing the boy’s birthday cake) and then went to see the last Harry Potter movie (such a great ending to a fantastic series). It was so nice to be out together just the two of us. Thanks for a great night, Baby.
And thank you, Nola, for spending so much time with the boy while you’ve been here. I know it’s absolutely killed you, but I have gotten so much done because of your willingness to do so, and I greatly appreciate that.
Now there’s nothing to worry about when you leave on Friday….you’ve gotten a solid Riley-bean fix, and you’ll be back before you know it!
He definitely won’t forget you in just a week and a half. :)
