School Days: Kindergarten Graduation {Rory}

Rory's kindergarten graduation ceremony was held in the gym at 11:30am on Thursday, May 16. Riley had a normal day of school, but his teachers were happy to let him come watch his brother finish out his kindergarten year. Nola and Nopsi and Grandma and Grandpa were there too, and we once again had awesome reserved seats thanks to my role as a room mom. And Dana, Heidi, and Terah were right in front of us; they went in together at the gala to win front row seats.

The kids processed in from the back of the gym and took their places on the risers at the front. Rory looked so handsome! Emma walked a little faster than he did and caught up to him, but he smiled the whole time. They all looked adorable.

The program was very similar to what Riley did three years ago, and Rory's lines were in the same sections as Riley's were. They spelled out "kindergarten" towards the beginning and Rory was the last "N:" "N is for next year. First grade here we come." He did great!

After that, they recited some poems, sang some alphabet songs, counted to 100 by 5's and 10's, and performed 4 special songs. We were all very impressed with how much they had to remember for their program; Rory said they had been practicing a lot.

Once the songs were over, Allison and Jessica said a few words, and we all watched a slideshow presentation with pictures from throughout the year. Then the kids were handed their graduation certificates and walked back down the center aisle to the back of the gym for cake and drinks. They were officially done with kindergarten!

Rory had no interest in cake, so we went straight to pictures and got those out of the way. Then he and his friends ran around the gym while I chatted with Allison and Ceci and some of the other parents. I'm sure going to miss those two ladies. So glad both of my boys had them.

Then we told Riley goodbye (he had to go back to class) and headed to lunch at Nola Food and Spirits to celebrate the new graduate. Dana and Colin came too.

Congratulations, Rory; Daddy and I are so proud of you. First grade, here you come!
