Rory had such a great PK4 year. He learned so much, got to know and love two more amazing teachers, and made lots of new friends. We are so proud of him!
During their last nine weeks, they studied the letters J (jellybeans, jet), Q (quilt, question), Y (yarn, yellow), and Z (zebra, zoo) and learned three new sight words: little, what, and you. They also did activities with the colors orange and pink.
In reading they read seven new stories: Little Things, Cub Quiz, Where Is It From, Wild Animals, Let’s Clean Up, We Like Bugs, and Seasons.
In math, they talked about the numbers 16-20, graphing, and also introduced addition and subtraction.
In religion, they learned about Lent, Palm Sunday and Holy Week, and visited the St. Joseph’s altar. They also talked about the Last Supper, new life, Noah’s Ark, Jesus is risen, and love brings us together.
Some of their fun art projects included a windmill, a spring tree, painting with Q-tips, Easter crafts, and paper plate flowers.
They also brought home their own art portfolios full of special art projects that they did throughout the year, including special ABC and seasons booklets.
Rory’s behavior was great, for the most part. However, we did receive one note home from Mrs. Sue, about him constantly aggravating his classmates. It was mostly between him and his friend Rex, who seem to have a love-hate relationship. I kind of hope they’re separated next year but we shall see!
On March 28, they had a fun Easter egg hunt!
On April 20, they took their field trip to the zoo. On May 4, they participated in their first Field Day at Johnny Bright playground. On May 11, just before their last day of school, we met Anthony and Wesley in Mrs. Mouney’s classroom and gave them each a little end of the year gift (their favorite candy and a Cane’s gift card). Rory and Colin had such a fun year with these two boys!
What a great year. I think he’s really prepared for his next step: kindergarten!
School starts again in just eight weeks!

Such sweetness (despite the aggravating classmates thing).
I can't believe they don't teach these kids that Q also is QP!
