Four Years Old {Rory}

Rory is four years old today! At the age of four, he weighs 36.5 pounds and stands about 40 inches tall. He wears a size 4T in shirts, a size 3-4T in shorts, and size 9 shoes.

Here is his four-year-old interview. I love hearing the answers he gives in his cute little voice.

Rory Four Interview

Rory is quickly growing into a sweet, smart, and silly little boy. He can also be stubborn, especially when he doesn’t get his way. But most times he eventually gives in to what I want him to do, even if he does say in his most annoyed and exasperated voice, “Fiiiine!” No idea where he got that from…..

He still has texture issues with things he eats, so that unfortunately means he isn’t very willing to try new things. But he loves chicken nuggets, little smokies, and eggs and bacon. And carrots and broccoli. And all kinds of fruit. He also loves BBQ chips (“orange chips”), veggie sticks, goldfish, and beef jerky.

He sleeps well, going to bed around 7:30-8pm and getting up between 6 and 6:30am. He still takes a nap most days, sleeping for about an hour and a half to two hours. He sleeps well at school and at home. So grateful for this!

He has trouble pronouncing his “F’s.” They come out sounding more like “S’s.” Soar instead of four. Size instead of five. Otherwise, he is incredibly vocal and talks all the time, using impressive words and phrases sometimes.

He loves his brother so very much. And Kenny and me, for that matter. He gives the best hugs, throwing himself into my arms and squeezing my neck so hard. And those dimpled smiles of his can melt anyone’s heart. But he is still a little brother and he and Riley definitely have their not-so-good moments. They both mess with each other a healthy amount, but we’re trying to teach them to be kind and share and love each other.

He is still obsessed with construction vehicles. His play is becoming more imaginative and I’ll often hear him narrating little scenarios out loud to himself as he’s on the floor creating a construction site with his toys. So cute.

He is starting to learn how to write his name, and I am so impressed with the progress he has made in such a short time. Perhaps we won’t have the handwriting struggles with him like we did with Riley! Fingers crossed.

His personality is really starting to come through, and it’s so darn funny. Some of his expressions and tones I know he’s picked up from me, but the rest is all him. I love the little person he is becoming.

And when you are born on National Pi Day and the city you live in installs an “Apple Pi” statue on a road right by your house, you adopt it as your own and call it your statue.

Love the interview, as always. And that's OK, Rory, I don't want to talk about what I'm going to be when I grow up, either! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
