Riley brought home a few things on his last full day of school, including all of his school supplies, summer artwork, and a sweet thank you note from Mrs. Amelie.
He also brought home this special book.
And then there was his journal. The students “wrote” in their journals throughout the second semester, and some of Riley’s entries were quite funny. I love that he would be an octopus because they have suction cups.
The last thing we got from was his binder passed out at the closing program. There were so many things inside of that binder; I loved looking through it.
Beginning of the year handprints!
Check out how much better his coloring got over nine months. I was SO impressed. Now if only he could write his name with the letters in the right order.
Lots of fun painting projects.
“Captain Skeleton” was, I think, Riley’s favorite project of the whole year. Amelie told me that she couldn’t tear him away from the table because he wanted to keep adding more pieces to his creation.
Fun picture projects!
Apparently Riley can be more like Jesus by building a steam shovel out of Legos with Claire. Who knew? And if he had $100, he would buy a humongous Lego pack. Obviously.
Riley was tired on his first day of school. His dinosaur’s name is Googly Stick, who likes to eat grass and play with Lego trucks. And Riley is special because he and Darth Vader can eat cake.
One of the last things in the binder was handwriting practice sheets. Writing was Riley’s biggest struggle this year. He definitely made progress, but he still has a long way to go.
I plan to make him sit down with me for 5 minutes or so every weekday this summer and practice. We’ll see how that goes.
Hopefully by the end of the summer, he will actually be able to write his name correctly. You know, with all of the letters in a row as opposed to all jumbled in the shape of a triangle. Wonk potatoes.
The very last thing in Riley’s binder was a small gift from Mrs. Amelie and Mrs. Ashlie, a book called Kindergarten, Here I Come! I can’t believe he’s going to be a kindergartener in just three short months.
Huge thanks to Mrs. Amelie and Mrs Ashlie for a great year. See y’all next August with more School Days posts. Until then, it’s all summer, all the time. PK4, out!
