Friday was Riley’s last day of PK4. Drop-off was at normal time, and then his closing program started at 9:30am. I of course took some pictures of the wonk potatoes before we left the house. Turns out he grew one whole brick over the course of the school year.
Rory wanted to be in the photo shoot, too…..
…..so we gave him a mini one before going back an hour later. Sweetness.
The closing program took place in Riley’s classroom, so that’s where we headed once we were allowed back. Lots of fellow parents and family members joined us, and we packed ourselves into the back of the classroom and let the kids take center stage. They were all so excited.
Riley ran up to tell Mrs. Amelie something before sitting down in his spot. Who knows what it was about, but I love her expression as he’s talking to her. She’s so patient. (And SO pregnant….she’s due with her first child, a boy, in July!)
If you watched the video I posted yesterday, you saw everything they did during their program. They sang multiple songs, depicted how God made a wonderful world, and were quite obviously thankful for a really great year.
One of the last portions of the program was the distribution of each student’s classwork. Much like Ms. Amanda did in PK3, Ms. Amelie held back a number of projects the kids completed throughout the year and compiled them all into binders for the parents to take home. Riley was very proud to present his binder to us. (More on what was actually in it tomorrow!)
After their final song was sung, the kids were dismissed to their parents and to the refreshments in the back. Riley got to have pink lemonade again, and Rory enjoyed a cookie.
Riley presented Mrs. Amelie and Mrs. Ashlie with their end of the year gifts (cookies and gift cards to Target) and took one last picture with them. These two ladies were responsible for all of the progress Riley made this year, and we are so grateful to them for that.
And with that, Riley’s PK4 year officially came to an end.
Afterwards, while Kenny went off to work, the boys and I headed to Nola and Nopsi’s house. Dana and Diana and kids met us over there for an end of the year swimming celebration. We were delayed a bit by a thunderstorm, but the kids ended up having a great time, both in and out of the pool.
Summer is going to be so much fun.
Exhausting and crazy and frustrating and ridiculous and hot, but fun.
Final PK4 recap coming up next!
