Maybe we were crazy to do it, but Kenny and I hosted our annual crawfish boil at our house last Saturday afternoon. It was pretty warm but luckily it didn’t rain, so the boil went off without a hitch.
Grandma and Grandpa came over early to help us set up, and we would not have gotten everything done had they not been here. Thanks so much! Riley even helped Grandpa ice down the {adult} drinks. Gotta start ‘em early, right?
We had a great turnout, and it was nice to have a houseful of people. We got to spend time with many of our friends we hadn’t seen in a long time, most of whom hadn’t met Rory yet. I must say he looked mighty cute in his whale shorts and polo shirt.
There were also lots of kids for Riley to play with all day. We set out his slide, water table, cozy coupe car, and various other outside toys to entertain the kiddos. Karen stopped at the dollar store for individual bottles of bubbles, and Bridget was gracious enough to bring her small bouncy for them to jump in as well. There was no shortage of things for them to do!
It was a very successful day, and Kenny did a fantastic job boiling the bugs. They were delicious. And we didn’t overestimate like we did last year…..149 pounds was just about perfect for the 40 people we had in attendance.
Thanks to everyone who made it; we enjoyed seeing all of you. Until next year!
