Seven Things

1. Riley and I visited the pumpkin patch again, this time with Kenny and Nopsi (and his camera), two weekends ago. It was much more crowded and Riley didn’t have any friends to play with, but he contented himself with snatching up a broken pumpkin stem to hold onto while we were there.

 

Nopsi also used his fancy camera to get a number of really cool close-up pumpkin shots.

 

2. Nola, Riley, and I went to lunch at Houston’s one afternoon last week, and the boy behaved fairly well, especially considering we had to wait over a half hour for a table. At one point during the meal Nola gave Riley the lemon slice from her iced tea to chew on, interspersed with a few blueberries. He seemed to love it and didn’t even make much of a sour face at the taste.

But he did start acting a little crazy with it at one point…..

3. Nola shipped home a few things she and QP bought on their recent trip to North Carolina, and the box arrived at the house last week. It was full of styrofoam packing peanuts. Nopsi hates those things (he cringed when he came in from work and saw them), but Riley sure had fun playing in them until dinner.

  

4. Nopsi’s sister Dawn sent Riley his own pair of little Ugg boots shortly after he was born, and he finally fits into them. Look how cute they are on him!

5. We had been completely out of cookies for a few days when Nola got back into town, so she’s been baking a lot since she’s been here. And, she’s had a little helper.

 

6. Riley’s latest thing he LOVES to do is to completely empty his bookcase of all books. Coincidentally, I do not love this.

7. We had a very busy weekend, including Saturday afternoon spent at Uncle Jeff and Aunt Erin’s for their biannual Hula Ball tournament, Riley’s first experience with pumpkin carving on Sunday, and, of course, Halloween at Kelli and Steve’s last night.
