The latest NORC dinner took place at Emeril’s the night before Riley’s birthday party. Kenny graciously agreed to stay home with the boy and work on assembling his birthday cake while I attended the dinner. My parents, Jeff, Erin, Erin’s parents, and my cousin Brian were all going, and he didn’t want me to miss out on an evening with my fam.
I married a good one.
In un-Courtney-like fashion, I did not take any pictures at the dinner. I was supremely tired and not at all sure I would make it through the night without falling asleep on the table, so I just contented myself with sitting back, relaxing with a glass (or two) of wine, and listening to our table’s conversation. At one point, Lizzie came over to ask if I had my camera with me, which of course I did. She wanted to borrow it, and I handed it over without question.
Towards the end of the night, our waiter came up to our table and handed me a photo book, saying “this is apparently for you!” I looked through it and discovered it was filled with pictures of Lizzie and me, a veritable photographic journey through our history together. All the while, Jeff was taking pictures with my “borrowed” camera.
The last page was filled with text, and the last thing Lizzie wrote was an invitation to be one of the bridesmaids in her upcoming wedding. Woo-hoo! Of course I accepted (I think I said something like, “I guess I can do that.” Smooth, Courtney; real smooth.) I had made the cut and was now officially part of one of the sure-to-be talked about weddings of the century. This is going to be fun.
Thank you so very much, Lizzie, for asking me to be a part of your special day. It is a huge honor, and I am beyond thrilled.
I’m a bridesmaid……WHAT!?!?!
