We had lots of rain in June, and Rory just loves splashing in the big puddles it leaves behind. So off we went on a walk in the rain one afternoon a couple of weeks ago. Rory was so very happy.
A few days later Kenny finally gave the boys their summer haircuts. The amount of hair that came off of both of them was astounding.
A few days after that the boys and I had a busy morning. After some sweet snuggles in Riley’s bed, we took a trip to the big library, and they each picked out a few books. Then we went to get school uniforms for next year. And since they had been so good all morning, I treated them to a donut snack at Tastee.
When we got home, we did a little bit of work: I bought Riley a Summer Brain Quest book for him to keep up with the things he learned in first grade and to prepare him a bit for second grade. As I expected, he complained at first. But then when he saw the format of the book and the stickers he gets every time he completes a page and the certificate he’ll get when he finishes the whole thing, he got into it. He did four pages that afternoon and is excited to do more. Rory, meanwhile, practiced his letters. He told me a word he wanted to spell and I told him how to spell it. He did pretty good!
The second Summer Days recap coming up next. Happy Fourth of July everyone!

You're such a good mama.
I was going to say exactly what Nola said. Lucky boys.
