Riley completed his second month of tae kwan do classes at World Martial Arts last Friday, and, as such, he got to test into a new belt level. He had to show Master Candace his forms and also demonstrate his hammer fist breaking technique. When asked if he wanted to break one board or two, he loudly answered, “Three!” He probably could have broken three, but Candace made him stick with just two.
He got to pick who he wanted to hold his boards as he broke them, and I got the honor. I am so proud of how far he’s come in these classes. He may not always pay attention or do every skill perfectly, but he has learned so much in the past two months.
Master Matt presented Riley with his new camouflage belt and a flower for me. He was so proud to receive it.
After finding me and giving me the flower, he immediately went over to Master Candace so she could change out his white belt for his new camo one.
I got a photo of him with his three teachers and one of the four of us before we left. We had a very excited wonk potatoes on our hands.
I left to get to dinner with Dana and Diana, but Kenny decided Riley had earned a special treat and took the boys to get snoballs before they headed home. He even showed off some of his moves in the parking lot!
Riley-bean, Daddy and I are so very proud of you for sticking with this and earning your second belt. Way to go, dude!

Next TWQP, I am definitely asking to see some of these moves. (I also think I might have a little girl crush on Master Candace.)
